How to Choose a Red Light Therapy Panel

Choosing the best red light therapy panel is less about finding the biggest wattage number and more about matching the device to your intended use. Home users, wellness studios and professional recovery centres have different requirements.

1. Decide how much of the body you want to cover

For a small treatment area, a compact panel can be enough. If you want broad torso or full-body exposure, a larger panel or multi-panel setup may be more practical.

The LUM-400A is a compact option, while the LUM-A, LUM-3000A and LUM-6000A are designed for progressively larger coverage and professional environments.

2. Compare wavelengths

Many panels combine visible red and near-infrared wavelengths. Common examples include 660 nm, 810 nm and 850 nm. Some professional devices include additional wavelengths.

Do not choose solely on the number of wavelengths. The combination should make sense together with the panel's size, LED layout and intended use.

3. Look beyond advertised wattage

Electrical wattage does not directly tell you how much useful light reaches the body. When available, look at irradiance measurements, distance from the panel and coverage area. These factors are more informative when comparing treatment setups.

4. Consider mounting and ergonomics

A technically strong panel can still be inconvenient if it does not fit your room or preferred treatment position. Think about wall mounting, floor stands, horizontal setups and how quickly users can position themselves consistently.

5. Home use vs professional use

Home users often prioritise compact dimensions, simple controls and value. Professional studios may care more about broad coverage, durability, throughput, repeatable positioning and ease of operation.

6. Check specifications and support

Before buying, verify dimensions, wavelengths, LED count, power requirements, warranty information and expected delivery. For higher-value professional equipment, after-sales communication and spare-part support can matter as much as headline specifications.

Quick buying checklist

  • What body area do you want to cover?
  • Will the device be used at home or commercially?
  • Which wavelengths are included?
  • How large is the treatment area?
  • What mounting or stand options are needed?
  • Are technical specifications clearly documented?
  • Is the supplier able to support the product after purchase?

Red light therapy devices are wellness technologies and should not be treated as substitutes for diagnosis or medical care.
